Shaheed Udham Singh: A Revolutionary Hero
Shaheed Udham Singh is remembered as one of India’s greatest freedom fighters, whose unwavering courage and sacrifice became a symbol of resistance against colonial oppression. Born on December 26, 1899, in Sunam, Punjab, Udham Singh was deeply affected by the tragic events of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919, where thousands of innocent Indians were brutally killed under the orders of British officer General Dyer.
Driven by a burning desire for justice, Udham Singh traveled to England and, after years of planning, avenged the massacre by assassinating Sir Michael O'Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab, who had supported the massacre. This act of bravery took place on March 13, 1940, in London, for which Udham Singh was arrested and later martyred on July 31, 1940.
Despite the consequences, Udham Singh’s sacrifice continues to inspire generations. He is celebrated not only for his bold act of defiance but for his enduring love for his motherland. His martyrdom represents the spirit of resistance and the relentless pursuit of justice for the people of India.
At Shaheed Udham Singh Rakt Sewa Trust, we honor his legacy through our work—saving lives by organizing blood donation camps and empowering communities with educational support. Just as Shaheed Udham Singh gave his life for the freedom of others, we believe that each of us has the power to make a difference, to serve, and to save lives.

Message from Our Founder
I am Gurveer Singh, Founder and President of Shaheed Udham Singh Rakt Sewa Trust. Many people often ask, "Why do you dedicate yourself to this cause? What do you gain from it?" To them, I want to share that since the beginning, I’ve found immense peace and fulfillment in helping others. This is why we do what we do—for humanity.
In 2020, a deeply personal experience further strengthened my resolve. My cousin was diagnosed with cancer, and during her treatment, we needed an enormous amount of blood over two months. That was when I truly realized how critical it is for someone in need to receive blood at the right time. Watching her struggle made me understand the hardships families face when they desperately search for life-saving blood.
My friends and colleagues stood by me during that difficult time, helping arrange the blood she needed. After seeing how challenging it is for people to secure blood donations in a crisis, we decided to take action. We formed this trust to make blood donations more accessible to those in need.
Since then, we've been organizing blood donation camps with overwhelming support from people who share our vision. With every unit of blood donated, we are helping save lives and giving families hope in their most vulnerable moments. I believe that this service will continue to grow with the same spirit of compassion and humanity.
Together, we can make a difference. I am grateful for all the support we have received, and I hope this noble cause will keep flourishing in the future.
With gratitude,
Gurveer Singh
